Ron Paul

He may not have a hope in hell of getting the Republican nomination to run for president. He may not have the soundest ideas when it comes to the seperation of church & state.
But if you want a politician who actually believes in something and is passionate about his beliefs, rather than posturing and paying lip service to the “issues”, then Ron Paul is yer man. It says a lot about the state of this country that a man who tells the truth, who attempts to understand and uphold the constitution, and who has a keen understanding of the effects of American foreign policy is held up as some kind of crank and “radical”.
Unfortunately, i don’t think this country is ready for someone like him. I have a feeling they still fall for shit like Rudy Giulianni’s fake indignation (see clip) , instead of actually listening and thinking about the ideas being expressed.
*I have no political affiliations or preference, i just find it refreshing to listen to a politician who speaks his mind.

And I have to say I find it refreshing to hear someone finally say something positive about a politician. I am sick of reading Irish blogs where all politicians are hated. I’m fine with people not supporting politicians but if you don’t support anybody or any policies/ideas then it’s all counter productive.

You are so right Conor. I find a lot of the Irish blogs although funny and clever, unrelentingly negative. I find the whole fat Mary Harney thing distasteful. If you don’t like politics fine have at it, but personal mud slinging is utterly lacking in imagination. YOu rarely hear a reasoned argument about why politicians suck, and God knows that shouldn’t be that hard.
